Buying a "good used fuel pump" is like buying a used heart. It may or may
not keep you going. The end result is that your over at the side of the
road again.
When I first got my GT many years ago, It had an aftermarket Bendix pump on
it. It chose to expire on a trip to Oregon. I found another Bendix at a
local parts store. It worked for about six months before it died. I then
lost total control, and installed an original SU fuel pump. I also had to
replace the fuel lines, as they had been cut and modified by the DPO.
That was in 1983. THe pump has never given me a bit of trouble since. The
car has covered about 50,000 miles since. So my unwanted advice is to stick
to the OEM pump,(new), and avoid unwanted break downs. They always seem to
happen out of state, and at 3 AM.
