In re warming up the cockpit:

On a 59 MGA, a friend fabricated an inlet that attached to the engine
compartment bulkhead on the right side (where the brake/clutch assemblies
would have mounted had the car been a right-hand drive).  He attached it
to the fresh air inlet on the heater with a piece of dryer vent tubing (I
think).  This lets him draw air directly out of the interior to be
reheated, and avoids the fumes from under the bonnet.  He says with the
tonneau on it stays nice and toasty, and even makes a difference when the
tonneau is off.
