Hot tanking is where the item, NOT ALLOY, is submerged in a caustic solution
to dislodge and or melt all the crud, dried up oil, rust etc. to get back to
the original metal. Nasty stuff, if you put aluminum in the it will dissappear
overnight, but it does an excellent job of cleaning. Not sure what is in there
but I would bet it is some type of acid. Most maching shops have this tank (in
the states at least).
