Dan,
 the filler is under the carpet between the radio console and the
firewall. 
 That would be "behind" it when looking at it from the seat position.
 Usually that carpet section is really two "flaps" from either side of
the tunnel that overlap and (in some cases) snap together. So you
shouldn't have to disturb any carpeting to a major degree.  
  The Plug will be just about inline with the right rear corner of the
radio console and about 1" toward the firewall.
