>Land Rover was introduced after World
War II because the British had seen the versatility of the Willys Jeep.
Having seen the vehicle they determined they could do a better job and
then went on to build the Land Rover. In my opinion the Land Rover did
what it set out to do. By the 1970's, when a lot of us were getting soft
around the edges, and had some extra cash, Rover went on to develop the
Range Rover which has a different design and an unprecedented level of
comfort when compared to the Land Rover. Hence my comment which was meant
to address the difference of the vehicles - the Range Rover is to the
Land Rover (introduced in the 1940's) what the Jeep Cherokee is to the
(Willys) Jeep (introduced in the 1930's) My comment was not to suggest
that the Range Rover is "better" than the Jeep Cherokee (although it may
be!) but rather there is a comparitive relationship between the two
products within their individual product line!

Regards Philip
