It could be, but why would they suddenly start doing it this way after
40+ years?

What makes me a little cynical is that they've given list prices to
things like vapor separators, or seat belt interlock relay boxes, that
there's really no realistic hope of ever getting back. The net effect
of their new practice is that you think something's back in stock, you
get excited and prepare a big order, and then on the phone you find
out you're still out of luck. Moss has always known what's in demand
and what's not-- that's why they've always listed the catalog numbers
for parts even if they didn't have them, and you could always call
them for info. 

This new practice goes way beyond this, and I wonder how many Listers
have gotten excited about seeing something back in stock with Moss at
a good price only to have their hopes dashed?
