Just remember that you are buying a garage queen. $500 cars just aren't what
they used to be. It's unlikely that you'll have a driver for $1,000 as
having a professional do the clutch and take a peek at the tranny will cost
more than $500. Then you'll be able to drive it long enough to list all of
the other stuff that's wrong.
I've only heard about success stories with $500 cars. I have never witnessed
one.
