Peter Burgess states that the '74 1/2 through '80 B's (that had oil
coolers) had the oil coolers mounted in the "underslung" position, below
the radiator (another advantage is better radiator cooling since the oil
cooler is out of the way!) This would make the oil cooler upside down and
in the same manner as the VW. You will need the longer hoses though.
