Sounds like the hazard switch might be wired wrongly, since the turn
flasher gets its supply (fused ignition, green) via the hazard switch. 
Could be that the two outputs from the hazard switch (to the two
flashers) are reversed.

Your switch connections (according to Haynes) could be as follows:

1 - green/white
2 - green/red
3 - light-green/brown
4 - light-green/purple
7 & 8 - green
