Dan, unfortunately, since the MGBs are not very expensive cars to buy,
many people will buy the vehicle and neglect it horribly. They figure
that they can afford to let the vehicle run down, because they only have
$2500 in it.

Also, don't trust the word of another person. Of course, two weeks ago
I would have told you just the opposite. Over the holidays I got
severely burned on a 2.2L motor for my Porsche. I basically wasted
$2200 on an engine that has quite a few mistakes. Now, I'm faced with
redoing the whole rebuild, because the Previous owner was a total
moron. I got ripped off. I learned now, especially when it comes to
cars, that you cannot trust another person's word, unless you know them
very well or you are working with a shop. Lucky for me, this experience
only cost me $2200. I will never let anyone touch my car, unless it is
for machine work. Everything else will be done in-house.

You should be able to find used calipers for little of nothing, and if I
had any extras you would be the first to have a chance at them. $100 is
way too much to pay for them.

MGBs are not terribly expensive to own and maintain provided you are the
one who is working on them, and you are capable and willing to do the
job right. I've put about 40,000 miles on my '70 B, with some major and
minor problems, but I believe my investment is around $4500. I think,
when I sell it, I can get around $2500, so $2000 for three years of
ownership is pretty good, especially with all the things I've learned.

Welcome to the community. Feel free to fire away any more questions.
That's what I did when I found the mailing list three or four years
ago. Learned a lot.

Take care
Jay
