I also had this same problem last week with my 80 "B", almost bought a new
pump too. But upon futher trouble-shooting I found that the gross jet was
stuck. I removed the supply line from the carb.  placed it in a container
turned the switch and here came the fuel. Took a short piece of old fuel
hose placed it on the inlet and blew though it to no avail then while
blowing though it tapped on the carb with a small hammer until I was able
to blow freely.  Hope this is of some help.
