Though my .sig file says I shouldn't do this, I must say the timing of the
refinery fires etc. is absolutely brilliant if you were one of the other
oil companies. When was the last time there was a big breakdown of
refineries on the west coast? IIRC, it was the last time that fuel was in
short supply- cause or effect or coincidence?

Once is coincidence, twice is suspicious, three times is enemy action.
BTW, futures contracts etc. act to dampen such price fluctuations- the
response to the fires should not have been an immediate and massive price
rise, as we have seen here on the left coast. 

A boycott is an entirely appropriate response to profiteering.


and anyway? didn't we fight the gulf war for cheap gas  ;-)
