Gary - do you really mean convert from wires to steel (since your next
question asks about cheap wires and you have Rostyles)?

I would imagine that the conversion 'back' is quite unusual. Having gone
from Rostyles to wires I can say that the front hubs are a straight swap.
Going from Rostyles to wires you have to use special machined hubs at the
rear to get as much clearance as possible at the outer arches (but it still
isn't really enough). I have heard of someone who had problems with the
tyres fouling the inner arches and the guestimate was that he had Rostyle
wheels on a wire wheel axle. I have never heard of special hubs to go the
other way i.e. with greater thickness rather than less, but you could
possibly use standard hubs with longer studs and spacers, although what that
means as far as greater stress on the studs and possible breakage I cannot
say.

The alternative is to fit a Rostyle axle complete with halfshafts and hubs -
but if it comes with backplates and you propose to use them make sure it
comes off the same type of car (i.e roadster or GT) as the backplates and
wheel cylinders are different to cope with the greater weight of the GT.
You will also need a different handbrake cable - the Rostyle cable is
longer.

BTW. I will shortly have a complete Rostyle axle, hubs, wheels and
handbrake cable plus a pair of rear conversion hubs available if anyone in
the UK is interested.
