Well, FWIW, the Vermilion 1980 roadster on p.137 of Clausager's book has 
a black valance. But then, the back cover shows an original-owner 
Flamenco 1975 GT-V8, and it has a body-color valance. So you're not the 
only one who has seen them both ways...
