Preston,

I've just replaced those rubber vent to windshield sealing rubbers, and
they certainly are a pain in the neck. When I took them off, I couldn't
figure out how they were put on in the first place, but I tore the rubber
to be able to unscrew the screws that hold in the reinforcing strip. Upon
close inspection of the old rubber pieces when I was installing the new
ones, I found almost imperceptably small slits in the rubber through which
you install the screw and the screwdriver. What I did to identify where to
put the slit and the screws was to use a long straight pin to push through
the rubber and into the hole in the windshield frame, made the slit in the
rubber with a razor blade lengthwise above and below where the pin was
sticking out, and then pushed the screw / screwdriver through the slit with
the pin still in place. It's quite a tedious process, but they look like
they were installed by magicians after you're through. Good luck.

Safety Fast,

Rick Huber
