I've never heard of one slipping out. But I did have a B come down hard
after the bracket separated from the car. The car was pretty well rusted
though.
I still remember it well even though it was many years ago during my
college days in the barren plains of Nebraska. It was just a few degrees
above zero when the starter died on my 65B. I jacked the car up with my
handy MG jack.
Just as I was getting ready to crawl under the car to pull the starter, I
heard a creaking sound. So I stopped to listen closer only to see the car
come crashing down, the jack and bracket pulling away from the car.
Haven't used a B jack since then - but then that is mainly because I no
longer have a B jack. But it sure was a lot easier and smoother than these
scissor jacks that I use now.
