Before you buy measure carefully the width of the of the fabric/vinyl about
half-way between the header rail and the rear bow and make sure that the
width will allow the gutters to just about come level with the tops of the
side windows. I saw a number of hoods up recently and was amazed at the
variation, some of the 'quality' hoods had insufficient material.

It isn't difficult to fit a new hood to the existing header rail but you you
do need to take care, measure and mark carefully, and have access to a drill
and a pop-rivet tool. There are detailed instructions in books like
Porter's 'Guide to Purchase and DIY Restoration of the MGB', you mike like
to have a read first and decide if you want to tackle it.
