Mine had a high pitched whine as well. Turned out to be my wife.
Not very politically correct but humerous to some.

I've got a high pitch whine (sounds like a loose fanbelt, but it's not)
that I can't pinpoint. At times it sounds as if it's coming from the
waterpump or there abouts, at other times it sounds as though it's from
the transmission (maybe a throw-out bearing?) The sound goes away when
under a slight load yet comes back at idle or at cruise speed. Any
ideas?
