Leak at the speedo gear

Hi list, I was adjusting my hand break when I saw a few drops of oil coming
out of the speedo gear on the tranny. The oil is coming out the gear itself
not the plastic housing or the housing seal. Can some one tell me what is
wrong with the gear or the assembly. Thanks guys, Enrique
