My '71 B has the "upright" canister type oil filter that was used on
'68-early '70 B's (car has non-original block, but original head, etc).
Everything I've read on this filter setup has been negative because it makes
the oil take longer to get to the engine on start-up. So the consensus is to
switch to the later renewable type cartridge (or the inverted canister type
used on the early cars). So my question is, can I just use an oil filter
housing from a later car and swap it onto mine, or is there some type of
adapter needed? TIA.
