Steve,

I have also joined the intranet maybe two weeks ago +. I have not received any
more spam since then, than I am already used to. I do always make sure I look
for those check boxes that give my permission to sell my e-mail address. Look
for them! They like to hide in inconspicuous places with checkmarks already
applied; click on it to withdraw permission. Once one of them sells an address,
it will be resold, and resold, and resold. One can also set up a free e-mail
address at Yahoo.com for the express purpose of intercepting spam; besides, I
have seen some recent new features at Yahoo that seem to be aimed at blocking
spam.

I know this is not just an annoying bit of trivia; it can be as serious as a
heart attack: I recently learned that an old friend was forced to "retire" from
nearly 30 years at Hewlett-Packard because his computer was receiving
unsolicited porn. It is often difficult to get yourself removed from these
lists. If H-P couldn't block it, what chance does an individual have.
