Dean is correct about the insurance for events but there are lots of other
reasons why your club should be affiliated. North American MGB Register is
the only MGB, Midget, 1100/1300 and Post-Abington MG organization in North
America recognized by MG Car Club of England (the original factory supported
MG Club). NAMGBR will plug your organization's events in the "MGB Driver"
and supply up to two free memberships per year for use as door
prizes/raffles. We're all into these cars together and you can not find a
club that gives you more quality, consistency, dedication and enthusiasm.
NORTH AMERICAN MGB REGISTER is run BY the members, FOR the members. BTW
elections for NAMGBR officers will be held in October in Chicago at the
Annual General Meeting. I'll be standing for the position of Vice Chairman
at that time. The Vice Chairman's main agenda is to address the concerns of
the affiliated chapters. If elected I'll be looking to improve the lines of
communication with all the affiliated clubs.

The only thing I'd say about that other "Association" is that if you define
a "club" as an organization run by it's members w/ officers elected by it's
membership, then they are not a "club". I feel that being a "member" of
something means that you have a say in what and how things are run and if
you don't then you are a "subscriber" not a member and the "Association" is
a business not a club.

There's my nickle's worth. Anyone wishing more info on North American MGB
Register can visit http://www.namgbr.org/namgbr/ . You will find a
membership form there and if you print it out and fax it to the 800 # w/
credit card payment I'll process it and have your initial membership stuff
to you with in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for asking and Safety Fast,
David Deutsch - Membership Coordinator - North American MGB Register
