Carl,
All that is really important is the distance from the wrist-pin centerline
to the crown of the piston. That should be the same on both the types you
have. The rest of the piston is just there to support itself and the rings.
Remember, smaller is lighter and less surface area equals less friction.
Some manufacturers use shorter skirts and fewer rings, while designing the
piston walls differently to retain strength and stability.
