Sunday, 4 June, Waterford, CT, at the Harkness Memorial State Park,
CT MG Club is holding its annual British Cars by The Sea Show. It really
is by the sea, as it's in a field overlooking Fishers Island Sound.
Waterford is just a few miles south of New London.
Show hours are 10:00 - 4:00. Classes for MGT, MGA, MGB GT, MGB Chrome,
MGB Rubber, Midget, Lotus, Morgan, open sports, open saloon, non-judged
Daily Driver, five Triumph classes, three Jaguar classes, three Austin
Healey classes, and two Land Rover classes. About 200 cars were on the
field last year. Food and soft beverages available on site.
Cars participating in the Dare to Be British weekend are coming from
Saturday's events at Lime Rock to the show on Sunday.
This park is a wonderful old estate, owned by one of the early
officials of Standard Oil. Restoration of the mansion has just been
completed. CT MG Club helps with the plantings of the flower cutting
gardens and the formal gardens by the mansion. There are sweeping views
of Fishers Island Sound, about 270 degrees of azimuth. Picnics, kite
flying, mansion tours, walking tours and more are all part of this park
and show. Nearby are the casinos and the Pequot Indian Museum (worth a
day by itself).
For driving directions, email me off list, or take a chance that I will
be near the phone.
