I have had a set on my BGT for about 4 years. It is driven fairly hard,
about 25-30,000 miles per year. I did not notice any difference in road
noise, but they have upped my speed through the off/on freeway ramps &
the twisties I am lucky enough to find. There is a slight increase in
steering effort, only noticeable in slow driving such as parking
maneuvers. When I put a new set of tires on last summer, I did notice
uneven tire wear, but it was not significant, & not the reason for
replacement.
Someone else said, if you are not wearing out the tires, you are not
driving hard enough. I feel I am driving as hard as I want to, as
conditions allow, & there is an increase in the "fun factor". I made the
swap during a suspension rebuild, so the cost was a small increment over
the stock pieces, no extra labor. My car is/was a rubber bumper 1974-1/2
& has been lowered with no ill effects to the geometry, but then I did a
complete front cross member swap with a 1971. I feel this is the only
way to lower the car without creating other problems. I know about short
front springs- did that on my 1977- only works correctly if the steering
arms are modified - mine were by a MG suspension specialist.
