I read the thread about driver's side always sagging in the archives as
well.  I'm installing the new rears to bring the rear up to normal height,
hopefully the difference l/r won't be to bad.
I agree, spring manufacturing is very inexact.  There was a long discussion
on the Jag-lovers list a while ago about using spacers corresponding to
color codes painted on springs to get everything matched.  I was just
surprised to find mine at that length as they are about 28 years old now.
It seems to me like the whole process on the MGB is more or less trial and
error.  I am prepared to do some correcting after the first stage of my
rebuild.
