Oh great knowledgeable ones,

I purchased a 1970-71 high compression engine (with tranny and OD) for my 76B
"Spot" and am getting ready to drop it in. But the seller was nice enough to
offer to rebuild the carbs for me and teach me how to do it. He was the
technical director for our local MG Club. Nice huh?! But I went to get a
rebuild kit and ran into a question. The engine came from a car that was was
brought to the Washington DC area by an Australian fellow working for the
Embassy here. The tag on the SU's read AUD 502. I can't find any rebuild
kits to match this. I've even looked at an Australian supplier...no luck
with that number. They look like the standard HS4's for a 1970-71. Can I
just order a standard HS4 rebuild kit for that year? Oh, the nice guy that
sold me the engine said I needed to take the front engine plate off the old
76 engine and put it on the new 70-71 engine so that the motor mounts will
line up correctly...just FYI. Sounds right to me.

TIA

Scott
