Well, it seems plausible, given the logic of fitting such a device in the
first place, doesn't it? But I have no experience with this item, myself.

I think what you have here is a confusion between the two types of oil
pressure gauge that were fitted at various times. The Moss catalog shows
your 74 as having the type with a tube running from the gauge through the
firewall to a fitting connecting to a braided flex hose connecting to the
engine block. There is no electrical connection (except for illumination).
But 68-71 Bs had a gauge that was electrically connected to a sensor mounted
on the block (no copper tube). It seems you have parts of both set-ups. Look
at the 72-76 dashboard page of the Moss catalog to see what you actually
need.
