While we are on a related topic to spelling ..how about the continued
MISUSE of ( it's....)
The apostrophe is NOT used in a possessive situation...
its color, its engine, its clutch, leaking all its oil.
But the apostrophe IS USED when IT'S is substituting for the words....
IT IS ." it's (it is) my car and I'll cry if I want to...."
" ..it's (it is) not the cost of the parts, it's (it is) the
labor...."
Combination use: "It's (it is) my car and its color is fine with
me."
summary? Use it's when you are subbing for the words IT IS. Use its
when you are indicating possession (its color, its tires, its
interior, etc)
just a frustrated writer...
