Yes, you are exactly right! A rebuilt alternator for my B-GT
is cheap and my labor is, well, even cheaper! And to continue
your example, repairs, both parts and labor, for my Ferrari are
no more than for any newer car -- and LESS than many!
I just put a NEW alternator on my 308GTB. Total cost: $375,
parts AND labor. Stock Bosch alternator plus 2 hours labor.
Granted that is much more than the MG repair costs but it is
still less than that in your Accura example above.
Let me jump up on a soap-box for just a moment. I have
been told many times by people claiming to be wiser than me,
that they cannot afford the cars that I play with. e.g., MGs,
BMWs, Ferraris, etc.. My toy cars are worth MORE when I am
done playing with them than what I paid for them and that is
certainly more than they can say about the more 'pedestrian'
cars that they own. In fact, my toy cars are the only ones that
I CAN afford to play with!
