I am breaking my personal no off-topic posts rule, but I have a crisis and I
am hoping that given the member of volume of these two lists that I will be
able to get some useful advise and recommendations.
Please reply directly to me, kmr@pil.net

Has anyone had success using commercial computer data recovery companies?

My Castlewood Orb drive has decided to destroy two of my Orb disks, so they
are no longer mountable (insert, spinning, makes noises, disk failure
eject). The problem being there is a great wealth of work related data on
these two disks, and also some personal archives (list messages for
instance). So I need a successful route to recover this data.

Of course, when caught in this situation price isn't a concern... although
Iomega wants $495 dollars per disk to recover the information, and can not
guarantee success!!!

And yes, the second Orb disk was a backup of the first (I keep a backup of
each of my backups). So that further lent to the hurt :(
