Well, I put the Ignitor in this afternoon. It went in as easily as a new set
of points. Actually easier considering there was no dwell adjustment to make.
The engine started right up, but the timing was way, way too advanced. I
couldn't even find the mark on the pulley under the timing light. I'm amazed
that the engine would run with the timing that far off. After some twisting of
the distributor, I got the timing right where I like it (15 deg @ 1500 rpm).
Now at last, it should stay there (theoretically). What I always hated about
points was the constant drifting of the timing (always in the retard direction
in my experience). Of course, replacing worn points and condensers was never
fun either.

I took the car for a spin. I noticed no difference at all in how it ran. It
was running great with points, and now it's running great without points.
