To do it right, you should send it off to a specialist. The cost is not
that much. (maybe $60 or $70?)
I had my carb throttles on my 71BGT rebushed twice. The first time, when
they were really bad, I had them done locally by a shop in a small town in
Wyoming. The shop used what looked like a copper pipe extending over the
throttle shafts to fix the worn bushings - not pretty or original but it
worked for my purposes - a daily commute of about 50 miles each way to work.
About five years later I purchased new throttle shafts and bushings from
the Roadster Factory but by then I was living in an even smaller and more
remote town in central Utah. TRF gave me a contact in Arizona - I sent my
carbs to him and he fixed them up the right way.
The guy in Arizona (Dick Schuller?) who did my carbs has since passed away.
But there are several others who are skilled enough to do your throttle
bushing - one is on the list - Lawrie. I contacted him about a year ago
about doing the carbs in my 67BGT but they aren't too bad and I have been
too lazy to pull them out. Plus I need to get my other B going before I
take my BGT out of service.
