Gang,

I have purchased a new windshield for my 79B and have disassembled the old
windshield assembly. The old windshield has had the four corners where the
L brackets sit ground down. In fact the entire old windshield is a little
smaller than the new one and appears to have been ground. If I slide the
pillars with the L brackets onto the new glass WITHOUT the gasket it just
clears. The L brackets are actually touching the glass. It will obviously
not fit with the gasket in place. It appears that the new glass must be
ground down in order to fit in the frame and must have notches at the
corners for the L brackets.

Is this normal? Should I have a auto glass shop cut/grind down the new
windshield like the old one.? Will auto glass shops do this? Any other
assembly suggestions?

I thought the dashboard rebuild was a bear, this is even worse!

Thanks,
