FWIW:

I have the original overflow tubes which were removed from another
engine and still bent as original.  I checked the shop manual and on
pages B.10, B.11, and B.15 the illustrations show where the tubes I have
would route.  The left one comes toward the bonnet pannel and down the
outside edge of the bowl.  From there it angles downward towards the
front passing behind the rear carbs jet levers and in front of the
throttle push bar.  The front carb goes toward the bonnet pannel also
and down the the side of the float chamber as does the rear.  The rear
tube passes about 3 inches below the center of the front carb bowl.  The
front tube angles toward the engine to join up with the rear tube.  They
then bend downward to pass through P clip attached to the upper bolt
where the engine front plate and the front mount attach.  Both tubes are
the same length before bending and one sticks down farther than the
other.
