My "WORST" car would be a 1978 Ford Fairmont. 4 door,
AC, automatic & 2.3L 4 cylinder engine. Electronic
control modules lasted between 8 and 15 months.
Steering rack shaft seal went out - heavy wear on
cylinder. Power steering pump. Manifold corroded
through so that coolant ran out the intake. Had a
'tip end moan' factory defect that was fixed by adding
weights to the rear axle. Front struts. Radiator
about every 2 years. Radiator hose under warranty,
had NO CLAMPS. Ate brakes like potato chips.
Computer controlled idle speed had so much torque on
the wheels that it spun like a top on ice. Two hoods.
Three trunk/license plate light holders.
Transmission failed. Finally had the 'RECALL'
ignition switch fire before there was a recall. This
got it a free ride to the wrecking yard.
