My '71 B must have the collapsible column, I was unable to move just the
shaft.

In lieu of the cones, I left everything a little loose and turned the
steering wheel back and forth with the front jacked up. I then tightend
everything up. The steering is turning freely with no wooble in the shafts,
so I assume the Ujoint is lined up. I hope this is good enough. I don't see
how the cone alignment could work, because after the alignment one would
have to loosen the steering column again to get the Ujoint assembly back on.

Has anyone been able to get the assembly on/off without retracting one of
the shafts?
