There are two lengths, but I think they are within .75" of each other. 
I think you should be fine without replacing it.

I have read that unless it is brand new, you should just replace it. 

That will give you however many miles you have already gone plus what
is left on it until you have to pull the engine again.  You can get a
stock one for about $100.  If you don't have an engine puller, renting
one will cost you at least 50% of that around here...
