Valve guide in south bay / peninsula

It turns out that my ported head was cracked, not just warped, so the
leak may have been the crack rather than a blown gasket.  Anyways, my
old, stock, head needs new valve guides.  I missed finding out that I
needed them in time for BMS to order them on the order Dave sent out
by about half an hour yesterday.  

Two questions:

What are the relative advantages of cast iron vs. bronze valve
guides? Both Dave at BMS and my machinist prefer cast iron because
they last a lot longer, but can't quantify how much longer. Dave does
have bronze guides in stock, but I very much want to do things right.

Other than British Motorsports, are there any places between San Mateo
and Campbell that are likely to have cast iron guides in stock?
