Patton:

I'm agreeing with Dan.

1962-68 had the leather low back design seats in a multitude of colors.
1969 was a one year only black leather seat with removable head rest.

1970 onwards were heat seamed vinyl or ambla (not sure of the specific name)

Keep in mind that leather was used on most vehicle seats until it was
superceded by vinyl. Vinyl was not only cheaper, but it does last longer
without maintenance. Even now, most leather seat kits use vinyl on the
backs and sides both to save money and also because vinyl is much less prone
to drying, cracking and stretching.

This is much the same reason that real wood was discontinued for use in
dashes. The typical car environment is very, very hard on natural products.
Now that the cars are in the hands of enthusiasts, and on their second, (or
more) lives, folks are willing to spend much more time taking care of the
interior, and so demand for leather and wood is increasing.
