Of all the exciting jobs, there is the brake master cylinder (dual style).
I've done this twice before - seems like something I do about once every
ten years. And each time, I wonder how I did it the last time.
This time, I thought I would start with a decent pair of snap ring pliers
(or so I thought). Maybe they weren't decent enough because they were a $6
NAPA tool. But the first snap ring came out easy enough. Then there was
that plastic ring that wouldn't come out until I managed to separate it
into two pieces with a soldering iron. Maybe not the right way but it
worked. So far only an hour or so had passed. Then the final snap ring.
This time, I have spent two days and still it remains. My NAPA tool does
not extend far enough to get a good grip on the snap ring. I tried to
extend it a few creative ways. Is there a trick here that I have forgotten?
Or can someone recommend the right tool that will make this ring pop out in
an hour or less?
