Carl:

The 41427 distributor is a more modern 45D design. The 25D side entry cap
will not fit on the unit. There is a side entry 45D cap, but it is not
generally available and uses push on connectors, not the screw in that the
earlier cap has. The side entry 45D cap is normally only used in
applications of limited clearance. It is not necessary and doesn't offer
any benefit for your application.

The 45D distributor is an improvement over the 25D, as the cam profile and
point set offer better spark control, and less wear. The cap and rotor were
also redesigned to be less prone to shorting when used with higher output
ignition systems.

I highly recomend the 41427 as a basis for a problem free ignition system.
Typically most original 25D units have a host of problems with worn shafts,
sticky advance mechanisms and failed vacuum units.

Hope this helps.

Kelvin.
