In my '77 Midget the odo reset is a small knob that has to be turned.  I 
doubt that your older B would have a "push to reset" odo, like new cars have.  
I 
wouldn't stick anything in there that is smaller than your elbow.  (No wait!  
That is your ear.  Sorry.)
