What was the ignition warning light doing?  If not glowing, and if the other
electric gauges were still operating, then the problem will be in the
ignition LT i.e. ignition switch - white - tach - white - coil -
white/black - points - distributor ground wire.

If the warning light was glowing and the other gauges stopped registering
then back through the ignition switch - brown - solenoid.
