Assuming that there have not been any modifications by PO's -

The easiest way is to check the steering box mountings.

The factory V8 and the RB cars have the steering box mounted at a slight
angle to the transverse centerline of the cross member.

The mount on the drivers side is shorter forwards than the passenger side.

This is because the longer pinion shaft needs to meet up with the shorter
steering column at the rear bulkhead. instead of the CB position, which is
somewhat forward of the bulkhead. ( this was done to give extra clearance
for the rear exhaust on the V8's) The pinion angle in the rack  housing was
unchanged, so the steering box was mounted 'crooked' instead.

It because of this that the cross members are 'handed' on RB cars.
