Chrome bumper cars had the whole of the pump under the floor immediately in
front of the right-hand battery box, which puts it close to the wheel well
but not in it, and only accessible from under the car.  Rubber bumpers have
the electrical end sticking into the boot for ease of tickling the points,
with the mechanical end on the other side of that panel (obviously) which
puts it higher than the earlier pump again quite close to the wheel well.
The higher position means the pump can be changed without fuel siphoning out
while the pipes are disconnected.
