That's most likely due to cost of reproduction. Carpets can be cut from
just about any generic material. The floor mats would be much more
specialised due to embossed designs. It's like the side curtains for
MGAs. The repro alluminum hardtop versions are much cheaper than either
of the original fabric versions, even though the situation was reversed
during manufacture in the 1960s.
