Not mysterious, although not that common either.  The 74 1/2 did have rubber
bumpers and twin SUs, manufactured from Sep 74 to Dec 74, chassis numbers
360301 to 367818.  The carbs changed to the single Zenith for the 75 model
year on for North American spec cars only, the UK continued with twin SUs to
the end.  There were 5807 roadsters and 1637 GTs in total and North America
got nearly all of them.  There would be no distinction between the two as
far as the authorities were concerned, It wouldn't surprise me if '1974 1/2'
is a relatively recent description and not used by the factory at the time.
