Engine Rebuild?

My 1971 MGB has oil on the #2 spark plug.  Does this mean I am in for  a 
complete engine rebuild?  I have put over 100K on the car in the 8 years  I 
have 
owned it and god only knows what it had on it before I bought it.
 
If so,  how much $$ in parts and machine shop costs should I expect if  I do 
the rebuild myself.  Any recommendations for a first timer?
