Donny, according to the wiring diagram, the power to the turn signal switch
does go through the hazard switch. I have checked the hazard switch action
several times just to be sure they worked - and they do. The problem is that
only one side of the turn signals are faulty (slow), and the same wire feeds
from the hazard switch to the turn flasher and then to the turn signal
switch. It looks more and more like it must be a poor connection on the bad
side, or the turn switch itself.
I'll keep digging.

I seem to remember something about the whole turn signal circuit running
trough the emergency (4-way) switch in the dash. (It would have to,
wouldn't it?) Anyway, over time and without any use, the 4-way switch
contacts become dirty (oxidize) and the signals function erratically. Try
"exercising" the 4-way switch (switching it "on" and "off") and see if that
helps your problem. I think I had similar signal problem when I got my '78
MGB. In a severe case, you might disassemble the switch and clean it, or
you could just replace it.
